What a difference a day makes? Tuesday I was turning blue from the cold in Wells and yesterday I was getting a sun-tan in North Walsham, Mundesley and Stalham!
With all the talk of apathy in the media, it was reassuring to speak to so many people who are taking a keen interest in the election and thinking hard about the important choice that we shall all have to make when we go into that polling booth in just a few weeks time.
David Cameron has talked a lot since becoming leader about Britain’s broken society and how a Conservative Government would begin to repair it. Building a “Big Society” is central to our vision for a better future for our country and yesterday, David Cameron set out plans to create a National Citizens Service for young people. This will help to sow the seeds of that Big Society and it has gone down well with North Norfolk residents, many of whom were keen to discuss it.
As one man who I met at the market in North Walsham said, “There is nothing for our young people to do around here, no way of making them realise that they are part of a responsible caring society – this will make a real difference.”
I couldn’t have put it better myself.
You can read more about the plans here.
